When snow and temperature conditions allow, Ski-for-Free is open on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and on Sundays from 12:30 – 3:00 p.m. Check the Crossroads website or Facebook page for current conditions and Ski-for-Free hours which, due to weather conditions, are subject to change.
Ida Bay Preserve is beautiful for hiking, biking, and snow shoeing. If you don’t mind cutting your own trails, it is also great for cross country skiing.
If you’re looking for expertly groomed trails, SNOWKRAFT Nordic is a must-visit. Founded by Tom Parsons, this private facility caters to silent sports enthusiasts year-round. With the help of dedicated volunteers and specialized equipment, the trails are kept in top condition for fat tire biking (studded tires in winter), cross-country skiing, and skate skiing. If renting a bike through Nor Door Sports, be sure to fill out the form and allow a day for transport to Sturgeon Bay from their Fish Creek location.
Indoors
After enjoying Door County’s winter wonderland, consider relaxing indoors. Check the ship schedule to see if you can spot ships docking at Fincantieri Bay Ship Building.
